Two MSI ATX 3.0 Power Supplies Gain PPLP Gold Certification

MSI announced today its latest ATX 3.0 (PCIe 5.0) power supplies, the MAG A1000GL PCIE5 and MAG A850GL PCIE5, are among the first batch of power supplies certified by PPLP Labs, a Chinese-based testing entity specializing in consumer PSU certification. Both models have received the PPLP Gold certification.

PPLP is short for “PSU Performance Level Plan” (电源效能星级计划), and it is likely to be the third major PSU certification body after 80PLUS and Cybernetics Labs. As of this writing, there are a total of 33 models certified from brands like MSI, Corsair, LIAN LI, Enermax, Deepcool, Segotep, and more. All certified PSUs fall under one of six categories, which includes Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium, and the highest-tier “Super Ti” certification. There are additional certifications available for ATX 3.0 PSUs as well.

Like Cybernetics, PPLP’s certification suite also includes non-power-related testing, such as noise testing (available Q3 2024), and build quality certification. No specifics have been set for the latter category so far, though the webpage mentions components such as fans, heat sinks and chassis will be evaluated. Here’s the full list of power supplies currently certified by the organization, with the full testing report available for viewing (click “Check” under the respective models to open the PDF file).

Aside from PPLP Gold certification, both MSI power supplies has also been awarded the 80PLUS Gold and Cybernetics Gold certifications.

Pokdepinion: Three certification bodies for PSUs should make it pretty robust.
