Kingston Remains Top DRAM Module Supplier for 2021
Kingston Technology today announced it has been ranked the top 3rd-party DRAM module supplier in the world, per latest rankings by revenue from analyst firm TrendForce. The company maintains #1 position with estimated 78.7% of market share on $14.2bn USD revenue. The firm stated that Kingston has increased revenue year-over-year (YoY) by 8%, making this the 19th year in succession the company has held the top spot.
As per report, the world’s top five DRAM suppliers accounted for 90% of total sales in 2021, with Kingston holding nearly 80% of market share. TrendForce also states that pandemic has changed the demands of such parts, as remote work and learning has grew substantially for the last two years, and driven the growth of DRAM module shipments as a result.
With the incoming DDR5 memory modules superseding DDR4 modules, Kingston enhanced its production infrastructure to readily support the next-gen platforms. The company began shipping DDR5 modules last year and was the first 3rd-party supplier to receive Intel Platform Validation on its DDR5 UDIMMs.
Pokdepinion: As chipmakers transition to DDR5-based platforms, the demand for it will grow pretty quickly and it’s best that DRAM manufacturers are prepared for it, to keep pricing in check.
