A series of memoranda of understanding were exchanged during the summit, spanning public and private sector collaboration across both countries. Among the signatories were Wanita Berdaya Selangor with Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and Tourism Selangor with both Batik Air Bandung and the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA).

Additional MoUs were signed between the ASEAN Future Workforce Council and KADIN Jawa Barat, and between the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce Indonesia and Bank BJB. A Letter of Intent was also exchanged between GreatAsic Technology and the Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDeC), signalling growing interest in semiconductor and chip design cooperation between the two economies.

Running alongside the main summit was the Selangor Medical Tourism and Education Expo, organised with Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). The two-day expo featured 30 booths from Malaysian hospitals, universities, and wellness providers, positioning Selangor as a destination for healthcare and higher education among Indonesian audiences.

Medical tourism exhibitors included Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Sunway Medical Centre, Beacon Hospital, and KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital, among others. On the education side, institutions represented included Taylor’s University, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), UCSI University, and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).

The summit’s conference programme featured presentations on investment opportunities in West Java and Selangor’s strategic industries, as well as panel discussions covering ASEAN supply chain integration and cross-border talent mobility. CIMB Niaga and Bank BJB presented perspectives on the financial landscape in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Day Two Site Visits Across West Java’s Industrial Sectors

On 10 July, the Selangor delegation conducted site visits across West Java’s industrial hubs, covering six economic sectors: aerospace, rail and mobility; creative industry; energy and utilities; property development; and technology. The visits were aimed at identifying practical areas for cross-border investment and industrial deployment between the two states.

Since its founding in 1999, Invest Selangor has facilitated over 7,069 manufacturing projects, helping to generate 508,316 jobs and attracting more than RM256.6 billion in cumulative investment. The agency drives major platforms including the annual Selangor International Business Summit and the Selangor Aerospace Summit.

Following the SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition, both the Selangor and West Java governments are inviting investors and business leaders to the main Selangor International Business Summit 2026, scheduled from 14 to 17 October 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Pokdepinion: More than 400 delegates, 30 expo booths, 7 MoUs, and a Letter of Intent signed before most people had finished their hotel breakfast on day one, if there’s one thing Selangor does well, it’s making bilateral handshakes look very busy indeed.
