Xero has announced new AI-powered features within its agentic platform JAX at Xerocon London, aimed at helping small businesses and accountants automate bookkeeping tasks and manage cash flow. The company also showcased integrations with Microsoft 365 and Anthropic’s Claude, and confirmed it now serves 5 million customers worldwide.
Xero JAX AI Now Supports End-to-End Accounting and Compliance

For starters, Xero Partner Hub is being updated to bring book health, work status, and month-end readiness into a single view connected to tax and advisory functions, allowing practices to manage compliance workflows in one place. Smart Document Capture uses JAX to read source documents and extract data directly into Xero, with additional capabilities for bank statement extraction and VAT checks planned in coming months.
The new JAX-powered Auto Bank Reconciliation matches transactions to bank feeds automatically and in real time, with plans to handle more complex cases such as splitting payments across sales and fees. The company says a document chasing feature is also in development, which will identify transactions missing a receipt.
There’s more, too: XeroForce, a natural language AI agent builder powered by Xero OS, allows accountants and small businesses to create custom AI agents that connect Xero to third-party apps without writing code. This is done via integrations with Anthropic’s Claude and Microsoft 365 Copilot, allowing customers to access and query their Xero financial data directly from productivity tools they’re already familiar with.
New JAX features aimed at improving cash flow include Payment Follow Ups, which analyses customer payment history to execute tailored collection plans, and Bill Protection, which inspects bills before payment to flag unusual amounts or unfamiliar suppliers. A Cash Flow Actions feature builds preventative plans, including suggestions to delay non-critical bills or protect payroll, with all actions managed within Xero’s ledger.
Pokdepinion: Xero now has an AI agent that chases your unpaid invoices so you do not have to have that awkward conversation with a client for the sixth time – that alone might be worth the subscription for some.
