The Esports World Cup 2026 has officially kicked off in Paris, marking the first-ever international edition of the largest international esports competition inaugurated in 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event’s official ceremony was held in La Seine Musicale, officially kickstarting the month-long competition to produce the best esports club in the world.
Esports World Cup 2026 Overview

Held at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, the Esports World Cup brings together 2,000 esports pro and 200 respective teams representing over 100 countries, competing for a combined prize pool of US$75 million across several disciplines. The seven-week tournament runs through August 23, 2026, and covers 25 competitions across 24 major gaming titles.
25 tournaments will be held during the event involving 24 games including: Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Call of Duty: Warzone, Chess (not a computer game, technically), Counter-Strike 2, Crossfire, Dota 2, EA SPORTS FC 26, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Fortnite, Free Fire, Honor of Kings, League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Overwatch 2, PUBG MOBILE, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Rainbow Six Siege X, Rocket League, Street Fighter 6, Teamfight Tactics, Tekken 8, Trackmania and VALORANT.

One of the defining features of the Esports World Cup is its Club Championship format, which sets it apart from traditional single-title tournaments – for the past two editions, the winner is Saudi’s own esports team, Team Falcons. In this system, individual match results across multiple titles feed into a broader ranking, rewarding clubs for consistency across multiple titles rather than dominance in just one game. A dedicated US$30 million of the total prize pool has been allocated specifically to the Club Championship.
Global ambassador appearances also form a notable part of this edition – football icon Cristiano Ronaldo and chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen return as Global Ambassadors for the event, and on the broadcast side, the tournament is being distributed in over 40 languages through 100 global broadcast and OTT partners. An expanded creator network of 5,000 official co-streamers (42% more than previous edition) will collectively deliver over 7,000 hours of live content throughout the competition period.
Pokdepinion: One thing is for sure – that’s eye-watering amounts of prize to be had for teams willing to fight for it.
