U Mobile has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asia OneHealthcare Group (A1H) to deploy its ULTRA5G In-Building Coverage (IBC) across the group’s hospitals nationwide. The partnership marks U Mobile’s expansion into the healthcare sector and adds to its indoor 5G footprint.
U Mobile Rolls Out ULTRA5G To Hospitals
The initial phase of the rollout covers 15 hospitals, including Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) and selected Columbia Asia hospitals. SJMC is the first hospital under the partnership to go live with the network, with a progressive rollout planned across the remaining participating hospitals. The deployment across Asia OneHealthcare hospitals adds to the telco’s 5G IBC footprint, which currently spans more than 200 sites nationwide.

In addition to the rollout of 5G IBC, both parties will also assess how 5G and future 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technologies can “support selected healthcare use cases,” among other uses. Selected proof-of-concept initiatives under the collaboration will be carried out through U Mobile’s Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP), which intended to support experimentation and co-creation involving technologies such as 5G-Advanced, AI and next-generation digital infrastructure.
