U Mobile launched its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) Hub on 6 August 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, describing it as a collaborative innovation space built on the company’s 5G-Advanced (5G-A) infrastructure, intended to help enterprises develop, test and demonstrate solutions powered by 5G-A and artificial intelligence (AI). The launch was officiated by Minister of Communications YB Dato’ Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
U Mobile Pitches EIP Hub As 5G-A & AI Testing Ground
According to U Mobile, the EIP Hub is designed to address the difficulty organizations face in translating emerging technologies into practical business outcomes. The hub provides an environment for enterprises to test and validate 5G-A and AI-based solutions before implementing them at scale, which the company said is intended to reduce implementation risks and shorten adoption timelines.
The hub brings together enterprises, technology partners, academic institutions, advisors and public sector stakeholders. The launch follows the appointment of the platform’s Advisory Panel in July and builds on an ecosystem of 15 partners spanning technology, enablement, academia and anchor organizations, covering areas including connectivity, AI, cloud computing and cybersecurity.
At the launch, the EIP Hub presented four in-house demonstrations illustrating applications of 5G-A and AI. These included visual intelligence systems for real-time operational monitoring, a digital twin system combining 5G, Internet of Things (IoT) and AI for predictive asset management, drone-based patrolling and data capture for autonomous inspection, and a 5G-enabled humanoid robotics system intended to automate operations.
EIP partners also presented sector-specific solutions. MCMC AgriNXT showcased an AI-based agriculture solution for plantation operations, while Qualcomm presented a smart retail solution using AI to analyze customer behavior and store operations. Huawei demonstrated a smart ward solution combining 5G, Fixed Wireless Access and IoT connectivity, intended to support real-time patient monitoring and clinical data analysis in hospital settings.
“Through the Enterprise Innovation Platform and the EIP Hub, we want to create an environment where organizations can confidently explore new technologies, develop practical solutions and scale innovations that create measurable business outcomes via our state-of-the-art 5G-A infrastructure,” said Wong Heang Tuck, Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile.
As part of the launch, the EIP Hub held a two-day Executive Innovation Forum featuring sessions with industry leaders and technology partners, along with a tour of the facility. U Mobile said the EIP Hub will continue to expand through partnerships, proof-of-concept projects, solution validation and pilot programs, operating on the company’s ULTRA5G network and in-building coverage systems to support the development of 5G-A and AI applications across industries.
