Kelas Sekejap is expanding from a conversational English-learning app into a broader AI-powered learning ecosystem spanning schools, workplace learning, educational content, and branded learning, marking the evolution at its first public event, themed Sembang Sekejap.
Kelas Sekejap Reaches Over 15,000 Registered Learners Since January Launch
Since its public launch on 26 January this year, Kelas Sekejap has grown to more than 15,000 registered learners, with over 6,000 active conversations taking place through its AI tutor. The platform’s short-form educational content has averaged more than 150,000 views across platforms.
The company stated its approach is based on the observation that many Malaysians struggle with skills such as speaking English not due to a lack of vocabulary, but due to fear of making mistakes. “It isn’t that Malaysians don’t know the words. What’s holding many people back is the fear of getting them wrong in front of someone else,” said co-founder Shahril Hamdan.

“The moment you remove that fear, people become more willing to practise, make mistakes and improve. That’s what learning has always been about. We want Kelas Sekejap to become the place where people feel comfortable taking that first step,” he continued.
Kelas Sekejap is designed to give learners a space to practice and receive feedback, positioning itself as a supplement to classroom teaching rather than a replacement. Upon the redesign, Kelas Sekejap app has expanded beyond conversational English into personalized learning covering news, careers, money, and everyday topics, with Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin planned for future rollout.
“The conversation around AI in education is often framed as whether it will replace teachers. We think that’s the wrong question. A great teacher does far more than deliver information,” Isaac Tan, Co-founder and CEO of Kelas Sekejap. “They encourage, challenge and inspire. Technology can’t replace that, but it can extend their reach. We believe that learning doesn’t stop when class ends and every student deserves a place to keep asking questions long after the lesson is over.”
Khairy Jamaluddin, Co-founder of Kelas Sekejap and former Minister of Health and Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, said: “Information has never been more abundant. Today, anyone can ask AI for an answer in seconds. That makes the role of teachers even more important, not less. The classroom has always been about more than memorizing facts. It’s where we learn how to think critically, question ideas and form our own perspectives. The future belongs to people who know how to work with knowledge in addition to accessing it.”

In schools, Kelas SPM provides Form 1 to Form 5 students with AI-powered speaking and listening practice aligned with the national syllabus, while helping teachers identify areas where students need additional support. The program is currently in use across several schools in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka. For workplaces, Kelas Sekejap for Enterprise converts company knowledge into AI-based coaching, while the platform’s content network offers short-form learning content on language, news, culture, careers, and money.
Pokdepinion: Fear of messing up in front of people is honestly the real issue for a lot of language learners, so it makes sense they built the whole thing around that.
