CelcomDigi officially announces the “commercialization” of its Sophia AI agentic AI platform, aimed at helping Malaysian enterprises and SMEs move beyond basic AI assistant tools toward systems capable of executing tasks and orchestrating business processes.
Sophia AI Launches Amid Uneven AI Adoption Among SMEs
The commercialisation of Sophia AI comes as Malaysia works to broaden AI access as part of its national AI agenda. According to the Ministry of Finance’s Economic Outlook 2026, AI adoption among SMEs remains uneven, with barriers including uncertainty around return on investment and limited access to AI platforms suited to SME needs.
“We have seen first-hand how agentic AI can orchestrate processes and create real business value. In building a strong value proposition for Sophia AI, we deployed more than 400 automations across our operations to generate cost efficiencies and deliver better customer experience. These strategic efforts have demonstrated how Sophia AI can drive good business outcomes,” said T. Kugan, CelcomDigi’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer.

For retail and distribution, Sophia AI can manage the invoice-to-payment process, including reading and validating invoices, flagging exceptions, routing issues, triggering approvals, and updating systems automatically. CelcomDigi stated this reduces errors and improves visibility across financial and supply chain operations for businesses managing multiple suppliers and transactions.
Similar automation approaches can be applied across other sectors, including manufacturing, where Sophia AI can automate workflows across procurement, production, and finance; healthcare, where it can streamline appointments, claims, and billing; and the public sector, where it can simplify applications, case management, and citizen enquiries.
CelcomDigi stated that Sophia AI’s architecture can be customized based on a business’s size and complexity, allowing SMEs to begin with specific processes relevant to their operations and budget. The company said it will support businesses throughout the adoption process, from identifying opportunities to integrating AI with existing systems and measuring outcomes.
