Lenovo has announced progress against its first generation of enterprise-wide Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets, detailed in its FY2025-26 ESG Report. The report covers gains in climate action, circular economy initiatives, social impact and governance, and includes a new set of sustainability targets for the company’s next phase of ESG work.
Dave Carroll, Lenovo’s Chief Legal and Corporate Responsibility Officer, said the fiscal year marks the end of the company’s first generation of ESG goals and that the company is applying lessons learned to future planning. Lenovo stated it remains on track to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

According to the report, more than 90% of Lenovo’s global operations’ electricity now comes from renewable sources, including onsite renewable energy generation, power purchase agreements and renewable energy certificates. The company said this reflects progress in emissions reduction and support for renewable energy markets.
Under its R.E.A.L Framework, which focuses on repairability, reuse and recycling, Lenovo reported that all of its PC products (excluding tablets and accessories) now incorporate post-consumer recycled content materials. The company said it has enabled recovery of more than 800 million pounds (approximately 363 million kilograms) of end-of-life products since 2005, and reused 300 million pounds of post-consumer recycled plastics over the same period.
Smartphone packaging sustainability has also increased, with 60% recycled materials and a 50% reduction in single-use plastics compared to FY2020/21 (note that figures exclude Lenovo-branded smartphone packaging and include Motorola Razr packaging as of FY2023/24).
Lenovo said it continues to apply AI to sustainability metric collection and analysis, and participates in industry groups including the ITU AI Skills Coalition and the Coalition for Sustainable AI. The company cited AI-related social impact projects, including the TRAdA solution for predicting heart arrhythmia in athletes, accessibility tools such as communication avatars and sign language translation, and skilling initiatives with partners including Tech To The Rescue and Ashoka.
The company also listed several ESG-related recognitions, including an EcoVadis Platinum Medal, placement on the CDP A List for climate and water along with an A rating for supplier engagement, inclusion in the Corporate Knights 100 Most Sustainable Companies list, fifth place in Gartner’s 2026 Global Supply Chain Rankings, and a “Most Sustainable Organization” award from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Pokdepinion: Numbers on ESG reports are not something that can be easily felt, although things like repairability certainly do.
