Red Hat has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud-Native Application Platforms for Red Hat OpenShift, marking the third consecutive year the company has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant based on its Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute.

Mike Barrett, vice president and general manager of Hybrid Cloud Platforms at Red Hat, said organizations are focused on building agile, cloud-native environments while scaling AI workloads, adding that companies increasingly need solutions that allow them to rebuild and redeploy application services faster in response to issues identified through AI.

Gartner evaluates vendors in the report based on criteria including offering strategy, innovation, overall viability, and business model. Red Hat OpenShift is built on Kubernetes and is available as a managed service through AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and IBM Cloud, alongside support for self-managed deployments on-premises or in private clouds.

Red Hat recently expanded OpenShift’s capabilities to address compute cost optimization, resource scheduling, and production-ready AI application development. Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, a native feature of the platform, is designed to help organizations migrate traditional virtual machines to a unified application platform across infrastructure environments including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Oracle Cloud, allowing IT teams to manage containers, virtual machines, and AI workloads through a single operational workflow.

The 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud-Native Application Platforms evaluated 12 vendor solutions based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute. According to Gartner, Leaders in the quadrant execute well against their current vision while remaining well positioned for future demands.
