Opera Will Now Let ChatGPT Summarize Webpages As Company Bets On AI

Opera has shared its plans to infuse AI into its web browser, and one of them is summarizing webpages. Called “Shorten”, this feature will sit on the right side of the address bar once it goes live – click on it whenever you need a quick rundown on what’s in the article. The AI will present the summary in bullet points, much like some publications already do.
This follows Microsoft’s Edge web browser which also sees similar integrations, and even offers features like generating text for social media posts and more. Google on the other hand is lagging behind in this AI chatbot race, with its progress so far with the “Bard” currently on internal testing.
Opera’s VP, Jan Standel told The Verge that the feature will “launch in browsers very soon”; furthermore, the company says they’re looking for more ways for AI to enhance the browsers, but there’s no specifics just yet.
