The Verge says Microsoft is preparing for a demonstration of its “Prometheus Model”, based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, into its Microsoft 365 apps in an announcement next month. The preview is currently live on the Bing Sidebar in Edge browser – Microsoft is hoping that the AI can help in generating graphical charts from data in PowerPoint or even Excel. Text generation is apparently in the plans as well, The Information reports.

That’s a lot of ChatGPT stuff coming from Microsoft alone in the last few days. It’s understandable – the company has been investing in its creator, OpenAI for years; recently they made commitments in the form of multi-year investment that is said to be as much as $10 billion.

As Google scrambles for a response in the form of “Bard”, Microsoft is also speeding up its schedules to make sure it gets ahead in the AI race. Engadget reported that the company is accelerating the new AI-infused Bing ahead of original timeline (slated for end of February) for better chances at taking Google head-on.
