WhatsApp Arrives On macOS, Supports 8-Person Video Calls

Earlier this year, WhatsApp launched its app on Windows platforms – and now macOS is getting the app as well. In a Facebook post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote: “Launching a new WhatsApp app for Mac. Group calls up to 8 people on video and 32 on audio.”

The app for the first time brings group calls to Macs, which allows up to 8 participants in a single video call session, and up to 32 for audio calls. The direct integration to macOS also allows the app to send call alerts even when the app is closed. The developers noted that the Mac version of the app is designed to conform with macOS interface, which they says helps users “get more done faster when using WhatsApp on a large screen.” It also supports drag-and-drop for files.

For now though, the app is only available through the app’s website, as the app is still yet to be listed on Apple App Store.

Pokdepinion: Definitely more convenient for Mac users with the app now.
