It’s September again, and that means naturally another iPhone launch season as per Apple’s tradition. Everyone on the tech press has received an invite courtesy of Apple (us included), titled “Wonderlust”.

Scheduled for September 12 this year (Sept. 13 1AM Malaysian Time), this could be the most anticipated iPhone launch in recent years, partly thanks to the regulatory bodies over at European Union (EU) that mandates all future handheld devices are required to use USB-C port for charging and data transfers. This effectively outlaws any proprietary ports, such as Apple’s own Lightning port, in the process. There’s rumors pointing to Apple doing away with MFi (Made For iPhone) chips as well – a big win for consumers.

Other rumors include the new 48MP sensor to succeed the 12MP sensor in the iPhone 14 series, and one of the biggest speculations at the moment is the new titanium chassis for iPhone 15 Pro models. This amounts to lighter chassis and increased rigidity, but titanium as a material is not cheap – so expect price increases in this regard (the top model may get even more expensive as 2TB version allegedly is on the plans).

Pokdepinion: It’ll be interesting to see how much the USB-C may impact iPhone 15’s sales, given that it’s open secret the Cupertino did the switch somewhat unwillingly.
