[UPDATE] HUAWEI releases HMS Core 5.0 framework update global
HUAWEI has just released HMS Core 5.0, the latest update to their framework which is supposed to rival Google’s GMS. In version 5, HUAWEI adds a number of new features to HMS. Do note that HMS Core 5.0 might not be available to download on your device just yet.
HMS Core 5.0 adds the following features:
- New audio visual, imaging, graphics engine, computer-generated graphics, AR and other capabilities
- Positioning services: supports crowdsourced location and geofencing capabilities
- Push services: support location-based service (LBS) and context-based push
- Optimized service experience
The updated framework should open up more capabilities to developers, as HUAWEI strives to match Google’s offerings for both end-users and also developers. HUAWEI has invested a lot of money into developing the HMS ecosystem. Adding more features does seem like the right way to go.
