In case you missed it, WhatsApp recently tweeted out about new privacy-focused features on their app. Moving forward, users will have the ability to hide their profile pictures and online status not just from unknown numbers but also from specific contacts. This will give users more room to protect themselves without the need to deprive everyone else.
To make use of the new feature, there will be a new option under privacy controls, which will list “My Contacts Except…”. From here, you can choose specific contacts to hide your details from. Whether it’s a work colleague or an annoying relative, this will be useful for practically everyone.
This new WhatsApp update has already begun rolling out to many users worldwide. If you don’t have this feature on your device, then you might need to trigger the update manually or wait for it to pop up for you.
Pokdepinion: Given how obsessive and intrusive some people can be, any additional barriers being places for privacy would be a great addition.
