Apple has updated the visual identity and sonic branding for Apple Music. The update introduces a revised logo, updated typography, a new app icon design, and a short audio signature that will play at the start of Apple Music original content and broadcasts.
Apple Music Has A New Look (And Sound)
The updated branding concept, titled “Made by Sound,” uses visual assets generated directly from physical sound wave recordings. Apple worked with producer Fred again.. and NEST Acoustics to record sound transducers vibrating mineral oil across custom physical rigs, capturing real-time liquid movement and light refraction in-camera rather than using digitally generated graphics.

The app icon transitions from the traditional white music note on a solid red background to a high-contrast design featuring fluid distortion details. The updated wordmark utilizes lowercase typography designed to align with Apple’s current design guidelines across its product lines. Additionally, a short sonic logo produced by Fred again.. has been introduced for Apple Music original programming and live event broadcasts – so just like Netflix’s iconic “tu-dum”, you can expect the same from Cupertino.

The updated visual identity and icon will roll out to Apple Music users across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and web interfaces in upcoming software updates – we can confirm as of this writing the streaming platform is still using the existing logo, though the branding in Apple Music Hall website (and the location itself in London) has been updated.
Pokdepinion: Gotta give it to this company for going extra several miles to justify its rebranding efforts.
