Proton has announced an expanded lineup for its S70 sedan, introducing two new variants – Lite and Prime – powered by an i-GT 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT gearbox. The new powertrain option positions Proton S70 range at an estimated price below RM60,000, with bookings now open at all authorized Proton dealers nationwide.
New Proton S70 Lineup

Both the Lite and Prime variants are powered by the same i-GT 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and CVT combination, offering a driving experience suited to daily commuting and family use. Both variants retain Proton’s Ride & Handling characteristics and offer three selectable drive modes.

Across the two variants, Proton said the expanded S70 range includes 10 class-leading features spanning space and comfort, connectivity and convenience, and safety. These include class-leading cabin space and rear passenger shoulder room, a soft-touch instrument panel, all-window Auto Up/Down with Anti-Trap functionality, an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, remote engine start, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a Rear Side Radar System, a reverse camera, and a rear seat reminder.

Proton said the Lite and Prime variants offer generous interior space – the wider body improves rear shoulder room, while a near-flat rear floor allows three passengers to sit more comfortably side by side, making the variants suited to families and longer trips. Additional in-cabin storage areas are included as well. On refinement, Proton said the two variants deliver class-leading NVH performance, while leatherette seats, a soft-touch instrument panel and additional interior detailing are included to enhance the cabin’s overall feel.

In terms of technology and safety, both variants include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, all-window Auto Up/Down with Anti-Trap, remote engine start and five USB ports, with some equipment varying between variants. Safety features include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and a Rear Side Radar System covering Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning, alongside a standard Rear Seat Reminder and reverse camera.
Bookings & Pricing
Bookings for the Proton S70 Lite and Prime variants are open at all authorized Proton outlets nationwide, with estimated pricing below RM60,000; final pricing will be confirmed at the official launch. Customers who book and register either variant by 31 December 2026 will be eligible for an early bird reward, with further details to be announced closer to launch.
Pokdepinion: A sub-RM60,000 sedan with this much standard kit sounds like it could shake up Proton’s C-segment competition.
