Unboxing the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro

The Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro arrives in simple, clean white packaging with an illustration of the band on the front, the model name printed below it, and the Xiaomi logo sitting in the top right corner. It is understated and in keeping with Xiaomi’s broader product presentation style. Inside the box you get the band body, the strap, a dedicated magnetic charging cable, and a user manual. Everything you need to get started is included, though the proprietary magnetic charging cable is worth noting since losing it means sourcing a replacement rather than reaching for any USB cable.
Walkaround

Xiaomi has been steadily raising its game on the design front with the Smart Band line, and the Band 10 Pro continues that upward trajectory. The standard aluminium variant I tested comes in silver, black, and pink colour options, with a high-strength aluminium frame that feels noticeably sturdier than what you might expect from a tracker at this price. It is slimmer than its predecessor, and the overall profile is clean and wearable enough to pass as something more expensive at a casual glance.
The 1.74-inch AMOLED display is the centrepiece of the design and deservedly so. Running at 480 x 336 pixels with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits and a high brightness mode ceiling of 1,500 nits, it is sharp, vibrant, and genuinely readable in direct sunlight provided you enable the sunlight view mode in display settings. The 2.5D curved glass over the screen adds a premium touch to the finish, and the 60Hz refresh rate keeps navigation feeling fluid. With over 200 watch faces available, there is enough variety to keep the display feeling fresh over time.
Interaction with the Band 10 Pro is entirely through the touchscreen, which works well in most conditions but remains a limitation when your hands are wet or sweaty during intense workouts. A single physical button would have been a welcome addition and remains a missed opportunity on an otherwise thoughtfully designed device.
The TPU strap on the standard model is comfortable for all-day wear and sits securely on wrists between 135mm and 205mm. The 5ATM water resistance rating makes it suitable for pool and open water swimming, with dedicated modes for both, though it is not rated for hot showers, saunas, or swift water currents during water sports.

The Good
Display Quality That Punches Well Above the Price

The 1.74-inch AMOLED panel is genuinely impressive for a tracker at this price point. The 2,000 nit peak brightness means it handles direct sunlight with ease when sunlight mode is enabled, colours are vivid and punchy, and text on notifications is sharp enough to read comfortably without squinting. The always-on display option is available for those who want it, though it does affect battery life meaningfully. This is the kind of screen quality that would feel at home on a significantly more expensive wearable.
GPS Performance Is Reliable and Accurate

The built-in GNSS GPS is one of the Band 10 Pro’s strongest practical selling points. For outdoor runs, cycling sessions, and open water swims, it delivers reliable route tracking without requiring your phone to be nearby. The GPS battery drain is also well managed, with less than 5% drop per hour of GPS-active exercise, which means a typical workout session will not leave you anxious about battery levels for the rest of the day.
Heart Rate Tracking Has Meaningfully Improved

The upgraded PPG module paired with new algorithms delivers noticeably more consistent heart rate data than previous Smart Band generations. For steady-state cardio and everyday monitoring, the readings are reliable and consistent throughout the day. It does struggle slightly during high-intensity workouts where rapid heart rate changes are harder to track accurately, but this is a limitation common across wearables in this price tier and should not be a dealbreaker for most users.
Strong Sports and Activity Tracking Coverage

With over 150 sports modes and a dedicated GPS, the Band 10 Pro covers an impressive breadth of activities for its price. Pool and open water swimming modes, cycling, indoor rowing, and track running are all well supported, and training insights including recovery suggestions and training load tracking add a layer of meaningful context to workout data that goes beyond basic step and calorie counting.
Battery Life Is Practical and Dependable

The 350mAh battery delivers up to 21 days in light mode, with a more realistic 15 days under normal mixed use including daily GPS workouts, heart rate monitoring, and notifications. Even with GPS-active sessions factored in regularly, getting well over a week of battery life is consistently achievable. The 90-minute charge time from flat is also reasonable for the capacity.
Solid Everyday Usability as a Notification Band

Notifications arrive clearly and are easy to expand and read directly on the Band, music controls work reliably, and basics like timers and alarms function without friction. Swiping through the interface from the main watch face is smooth, the widget layout for data like weather and heart rate is clean, and the ability to customise the widget arrangement is a welcome touch of personalisation.
Great Value at the Current Discounted Price

At RM289 on Xiaomi’s official website during the current promotional period, the Smart Band 10 Pro represents exceptional value for the feature set on offer. Even at the full retail price of RM399, it remains a competitive proposition in the budget fitness tracker category given the display quality, GPS capability, and health tracking breadth it provides.
The Bad
No Physical Buttons Remains a Frustrating Omission

Relying entirely on the touchscreen for all interaction is a persistent issue that Xiaomi has carried forward from the Band 9 Pro without addressing. In situations where the screen gets wet, during sweaty workouts, or when you need to quickly interact without precision, the absence of even a single physical button becomes genuinely inconvenient. It is the most obvious usability gap on an otherwise well-considered device.
Mi Fitness App Experience Is Inconsistent

The companion app handles the essentials adequately, including watch face downloads, health data review, and settings configuration, but the layout in sections covering workout stats and health insights is cluttered and harder to navigate than it should be. The on-device experience of the Band itself is notably cleaner and more intuitive than the app that manages it, which creates an odd disconnect between hardware quality and software polish.
Smartwatch Features Remain Basic

Notification viewing without the ability to reply, no Bluetooth calling support, and a feature set that stops well short of what dedicated smartwatches offer at comparable or even lower prices means the Band 10 Pro is best understood as a fitness tracker with smartwatch convenience features rather than a true smartwatch alternative. For users whose primary need is health and fitness tracking, this is entirely acceptable. For those expecting smartwatch depth, it will disappoint.
Sleep Insights Lack Depth

Core sleep tracking covering duration, stages, and sleep scores works reliably and the fundamentals are accurate. However, the additional sleep analysis and actionable insights offered by the app are thin compared to what dedicated sleep tracking platforms and more premium wearables provide. If detailed sleep coaching is a priority, the Band 10 Pro is not the right tool for that specific need.
Battery Life Headlines Require Realistic Expectations, While Proprietary Magnetic Charging Cable Can Be Inconvenient

The 21-day figure requires light use conditions that most active users will not consistently meet. Enabling always-on display, high-precision heart rate mode, and SpO2 tracking simultaneously will significantly reduce that figure. The 15-day estimate under normal mixed use is the more honest expectation for most buyers, and while that is still very good, the gap between marketed and realistic battery life is worth setting expectations around upfront.
The dedicated magnetic charging cable is a minor but persistent inconvenience. It is one more proprietary cable to track and keep from being lost, and misplacing it means sourcing a replacement rather than using any USB cable you have to hand. For a device in this price category, this constraint feels unnecessary.
Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro Verdict

The Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro is a genuinely capable fitness tracker that earns its place at the top of the budget wearable category. The 2,000 nit AMOLED display is outstanding for the price, the built-in GPS performs reliably across a wide range of activities, the improved heart rate sensor delivers consistent results in everyday and moderate exercise scenarios, and the battery life holds up well under realistic usage conditions. For anyone whose priority is health and fitness tracking with solid everyday usability, it delivers more than its price suggests.
The limitations are real but largely predictable for this tier. The button-free design remains a frustration in wet conditions, the Mi Fitness app needs polish, smartwatch features are basic, and deeper sleep insights trail what more premium platforms offer. None of these are dealbreakers for the core fitness tracking audience this band is built for, but they are worth understanding before purchase. At its current discounted price of RM289, it’s hard to find anything as good as this, but ultimately depends on whether it fits your needs and you’re okay having a wearable with no buttons.
With that in mind, I award the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro with our Silver Pokdeward.

Big thanks to Xiaomi Malaysia for sending us this wearable for the purpose of this review.
