Fortinet has announced a major expansion of FortiEndpoint with new AI-powered capabilities designed to help organizations securely adopt AI tools while protecting sensitive data and reducing cyber risk. The update, expected to be available in Q3 2026, introduces AI visibility and governance, native data loss prevention (DLP), endpoint risk scoring, and AI-assisted security operations, all delivered through a single agent, console, and license.
FortiEndpoint AI Security Features and Capabilities
One of the key additions is centralized visibility and control over both sanctioned and unsanctioned AI applications and agents running across endpoints. Security teams can monitor installed AI apps, browser-based tools, and agent usage from a single view, helping surface shadow AI and unauthorized tools through granular guardrail policies that allow, restrict, monitor, or block applications based on corporate security and compliance requirements.
FortiEndpoint now also natively supports DLP which automatically inspecting sensitive data exchanged with AI applications and web services. A built-in user coaching feature provides real-time guidance to help employees understand acceptable AI usage and reduce risky behavior without affecting productivity. Effectively, the goal is to prevent leakage of personally identifiable information, intellectual property, and financial data directly at the endpoint.
FortiAI-Assist is built into the platform to simplify day-to-day security operations – administrators can use natural language to investigate events, generate investigation summaries, identify high-risk devices, and receive contextual policy recommendations. The assistant also supports threat hunting and helps analysts prioritize risks through a unified management experience.
Complementing these features are adaptive zero-trust capabilities with dynamic risk and compliance scoring. FortiEndpoint continuously assesses endpoint health, compliance status, and risk posture, adjusting access to AI applications and protected resources in real time as risk levels change. The platform integrates with the Fortinet Security Fabric, allowing endpoint telemetry and risk context to inform connected security controls across the enterprise, strengthening adaptive access and policy enforcement at a wider scale.
