Sony Malaysia announced the IER-M500 in-ear monitors, its new professional-grade monitors aimed at amateur, emerging and professional musicians, performers and monitor engineers for live performances and practice sessions. Sony says it developed the product together with monitoring engineers.

Sony designed the IER-M500 with attention to shape and weight balance, featuring original fitting supporters together with noise-isolating earpieces, and four earpiece sizes are included. A thin polyurethane wall is used to improve noise isolation and clarity, and to support wear during extended monitoring sessions; flexible ear hangers and clips are also supplied for added stability.

The fully sealed structure and a large acoustic chamber provides sound isolation in noisy live environments, while a dynamic driver handles bass reproduction, with the internal structure tuned for high-frequency reproduction. The IEMs are compatible with high-resolution audio. Sony says it worked with several monitor engineers during development, including Noel Edwards, who has worked on tours for internationally known artists.

The IER-M500 is designed to tolerate moisture such as splashes and sweat, and for the cables, it features a detachable MMCX connector measures approximately 1.6m and is built for frequent plugging and unplugging. The monitors come in three transparent colors, with clearly marked left and right sides. It is now available in Clear, Black, and Red & Blue colors, each costing RM499 apiece, sold exclusively at Sony Store, Sony Centre and Starpicker.
