Agoda has launched its AI Assistant, following its limited test in September 2026; it has now expanded to 21 markets including Malaysia, with the new feature touted as “a brand-new booking experience” in the platform’s 20-plus year history. It is available now through the Agoda app on both iOS and Android.

New Agoda AI Assistant

These days, travel planning typically involves AI chatbots, and if the said function hasn’t done what many has advertised them for, then search engines, review sites, maps, and separate booking apps are usually involved as well. Still, even after finding a suitable option, travelers are left to manually verify pricing, availability, and dates before they can complete a booking – Agoda’s new assistant is designed to eliminate that fragmentation.

The Agoda AI Assistant is, essentially, another AI chatbot in a sea of AI chatbots. In this case, travelers can compare options, check live prices and availability, and proceed to booking without having to restart the process on a separate platform. For example, a user could ask the assistant to help plan a five-day family trip to Osaka, compare neighborhoods, explore restaurants and nearby attractions, and find available hotels and flights for specific dates. The assistant retains preferences and trip context throughout the conversation as the itinerary develops.

The assistant also features a trip planner canvas where users can sketch out their itinerary, including confirmed bookings, places of interest, and plans still under consideration. Users can respond conversationally or tap through suggested options while keeping their itinerary visible at all stages.

Early beta data shows that customers using the Agoda AI Assistant are more likely to complete a connected trip that combines multiple travel products such as hotels, flights, attraction tickets, and tours. Agoda has also integrated web search into the assistant to provide up-to-date information alongside its live inventory.

As far as its AI chatbot goes, the core bits are from OpenAI models; for restaurants and points of interest, it uses Gemini with Google Maps Grounding to surface current information from Google Maps, including ratings, photos, opening hours, and locations.

Pokdepinion: Great… another conversational AI chatbot. Can’t have enough of them these days.
