CelcomDigi has released its Deepavali festive short film for 2026, titled “Inaikkum Alaippu” (translated as “The Call that Connects”). The film centers on a universally familiar scenario for Malaysian families: the chaotic, often hilarious attempt to gather everyone for the perfect family portrait during the Festival of Lights.

Rather than portraying an idealized celebration, the film follows a family navigating unexpected moments amid the joy and bustle of Deepavali. The story makes the case that the most meaningful memories are not found in a flawless photograph, but in the laughter, togetherness, and connections shared along the way. The film also touches on families celebrating from a distance, highlighting how connectivity allows loved ones to remain present during significant moments regardless of where they are.
“As part of CelcomDigi’s commitment to keeping over 20 million Malaysians connected, Inaikkum Alaippu is inspired by a simple belief that behind every call, message and gigabyte is a human story. Whether it’s sharing a celebration or checking in on loved ones, these everyday moments are what make connection meaningful,” the company said.
Chan May Ling, CelcomDigi’s Head of Brand and Marketing Services, said: “Deepavali is a time when families come together to reconnect, celebrate traditions and create lasting memories. Through Inaikkum Alaippu, we wanted to tell a story that feels familiar to Malaysians because we have all experienced those moments when things don’t go exactly as planned, yet somehow turn out even more meaningful.”
“As a brand, we believe technology is most powerful when it brings people closer together. Every connection on our network represents a real relationship, a conversation, a reunion or a cherished memory, and this is what inspires us to continue helping Malaysians stay connected to the people who matter most, especially during meaningful celebrations like Deepavali,” she continued.
Pokdepinion: A fun, messy, yet certainly real portrayal of how festivities can often go.
