Red Hat has launched its APAC AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Singapore, backed by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) – the new site is designed to help organizations across Asia Pacific move beyond AI experimentation and into full production deployment, drawing on Red Hat’s open source technologies and engineering expertise.

Red Hat established the Centre to address growing regional demand for enterprise-ready AI infrastructure. Engineering teams at the CoE will work with organizations through two complementary approaches: developing reusable software architectures that tackle common industry challenges, and contributing code directly to upstream open source projects to address enterprise needs in system deployment, runtime optimization and platform management.

Red Hat APAC AI Centre of Excellence

The Red Hat APAC AI Centre of Excellence includes a dedicated innovation team of engineers, forward-deployed engineers, architects and project managers, all focused on making AI and machine learning deployments successful in customer environments. The Centre also supports skills development in software engineering, automation, cloud-native development and DevSecOps, helping customers and partners build stronger internal technical capabilities.

Basing these engineering capabilities in Singapore shortens the feedback loop between customers, partners and Red Hat’s core product teams. This connection is intended to keep development roadmaps aligned with customer requirements, accelerate solution delivery and strengthen co-innovation across the Asia Pacific region.

Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) is collaborating with Red Hat under the Centre to co-develop AI and cloud-native solutions for defense applications. Drawing on Red Hat’s open source expertise and DSTA’s engineering capabilities and defense domain knowledge, both organizations will jointly develop scalable solutions spanning AI, cloud computing, application modernization and edge computing to support multi-cloud operations.

The collaboration also covers establishing architectures and practices for DevSecOps and Day 2 operations for AI and cloud systems at scale, across both on-premise and off-premise environments. The aim is to accelerate development and deployment of AI solutions that give DSTA greater agility in responding to evolving defense requirements.

Red Hat’s APAC AI Centre of Excellence aligns with Singapore’s National AI Strategy, contributing to the country’s broader AI ecosystem through talent development, technology and real-world use cases. The Centre represents a model for translating AI capability-building into practical innovation across Singapore and the wider Asia Pacific region.

Pokdepinion: A whole Centre of Excellence just to help companies finally ship their AI projects, because apparently experimentation alone was not cutting it.
