CelcomDigi has received official spectrum assignments from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), covering 2x20MHz in the 2600MHz band for a duration of four years, and 2x5MHz in the 900MHz band for five years, with the issuance following the company’s acceptance of the Notice of Award earlier this month.
CelcomDigi Received New Spectrum Assignments
CelcomDigi’s wholly owned subsidiary, CelcomDigi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (CDTel), accepted the terms and conditions set out in the Notice of Award on 15 October 2026. The full Price Component of RM381.75 million was paid in full by CDTel on the same date, in accordance with the terms of the Notice of Award.
With this assignment, the operator now holds a contiguous 2x40MHz spectrum in the 2600MHz band, alongside an improved position in the 900MHz band. The combined holdings, the telco says, is to support wider and deeper network coverage across Malaysia, improving both capacity and service quality for its 20.3 million customers nationwide.
CelcomDigi noted that the assignment also improves capital expenditure efficiency, enabling the company to continue infrastructure investments that address growing connectivity and digitalization demands in Malaysia without proportionally increasing spend.
