The Xiaomi Mi 9 is probably one of the most anticipated smartphones here in Malaysia. We are all suckers for great value here, and the Xiaomi Mi 9 is the most affordable smartphone with a Snapdragon 855 inside. Of course, aside from the powerful chipset, we are looking at an impressive triple camera setup that consists of a proper telephoto camera, ultra-wide angle camera and also a 48MP shooter.
Malaysians will be looking at two color options of the Xiaomi Mi 9, with the Ocean Blue and Piano Black variants making it to Malaysia. For those waiting for the Lavender Violet color variant, Allen An shared in today’s livestream today that it might be brought in to Malaysia starting next month. Unboxing the Xiaomi Mi 9
The Xiaomi Mi 9’s box actually looks somewhat more interesting than the phone itself, as you can see. The iridescent shades of the box are really attractive, and is an interesting shift from the much more common black packaging used with most flagships.
The iridescent finish is continued even on the inside. Xiaomi also appears to be quite proud of their Xiaomi Mi 9’s design, as they embossed the Designed by Xiaomi on the inner box.
Under that box lies the phone, which features Xiaomi’s standard stickers highlighting its features and key selling points.
So the Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a soft case, 18W Quick Charge 3.0 power adapter, 3.5mm dongle and also SIM ejector pin. The soft case is somewhat unsuitable for the Xiaomi Mi 9, as it does not protect the camera bump at all. The charger is also the victim of some cost-cutting as it only goes up to 18W, despite the Xiaomi Mi 9 supporting Xiaomi’s latest 27W Charge Turbo.
We are working on the in-depth review of the Xiaomi Mi 9, so stay tuned!
