Sony has introduced two new power supply solutions for its Alpha series and Cinema Line cameras that use NP-FZ100 batteries. The new BC-ZD1 battery charger and DC-C1 DC coupler (which directly supplies power to the camera using the body’s battery slot).
Sony BC-ZD1 & DC-C1

The BC-ZD1 is a dual high-speed charger designed for Sony’s NP-FZ100 batteries. When connected to a USB Power Delivery (PD) compatible power supply of 30W or higher, it charges two batteries in approximately 155 minutes (for single-battery configuration, only 18W is required). However, Sony noted that you are required to use a USB PD-supported cable that can deliver more than 3 amps.

Meanwhile, the DC-C1 DC coupler allows cameras compatible with NP-FZ100 or NP-FW50 batteries to be powered directly from an external power source, such as a USB PD-compatible AC adapter with an output of 65W or more. Cables will not be included, and you’ll need a PD-compatible cable that can deliver 5 amps.
Both the DC-C1 and BC-ZD1 will be available in Malaysia starting November 2024, with pricing yet to be announced at this writing.
Pokdepinion: Nice to see USB-C implemented here.
