Acer Introduces Intel-Powered Chromebook Plus 514 Laptop
Acer today is expanding its lineup of Chromebook laptops with the introduction of the new Chromebook Plus 514 (CB514-4H/T) powered by Intel’s Core i3 N-series processor. Earlier on, this model features the AMD variant with Ryzen 7020C series processors.
For this Intel model, the processor that sits within the chassis is the Core i3-N305 with 8 E-cores and 8 threads (the Ryzen 7520C found in the AMD variant features 4 cores and 8 threads). The Intel CPU is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of PCIe 3.0 SSD; in terms of battery life, the 53Wh battery is rated for up to 11 hours of battery life, Acer claims. Should you need to top up the juice, a pair of USB-C ports on either side has you covered.
Elsewhere, you can find a 1080p webcam featuring Acer’s TNR (temporal noise reduction) technology to keep images clear, and you get Wi-Fi 6E support which allows it to tap into high-speed 6GHz bands. For privacy, the laptop comes with a physical webcam shutter, as well as an electronic killswitch to disable both the webcam and onboard microphones. Below is a diagram of I/O layouts:
We have no local pricing at this writing – however, Acer has announced the US pricing of $399 when it is available in NA regions starting this May, with EMEA regions set to follow in June.
Pokdepinion: Looks premium despite the low price, actually.
