Alienware m15 R3 Allegedly Runs 30°C Cooler Than Previous Generation
Previously, we reported on the newest iteration of the Alienware compact gaming laptop, the Alienware m15 R3. Now, it appears that the gaming laptop has a huge upgrade in thermals as it’s said to run up to 30°C cooler.
Alienware m15 R3 Allegedly Runs 30°C Cooler
From what we understand thus far, there have been some notable upgrades to the Alienware Cryo-Tech cooling thermal technology with vapor chamber cooling. According to notebookcheck, the Alienware m15 R3 gaming laptop is able to run up to 30°C cooler for the CPU, and 5°C for the GPU compared to the previous generation.
This is said to be thanks to the twin fans have 25% more blades, 39% heavier copper pipes, and a vapor chamber cooler for the CPU for the ones running NVIDIA-based GPU. This is a huge leap as the previous iteration is known to be a very hot machine (literally, not figuratively), which is something we also experienced in our own review of the bigger variant, the m17 R2.
The only downside here is that the Alienware m15 R3 gaming laptop weighs 100g heavier compared to the previous generation. However, that is a very small price to pay for the huge change in cooling performance. Fan noise is said to be about the same so if you’re worried about it being noisier, that will not be a problem.
It’s great to see that the engineers over at Dell acknowledging these issues and worked to fix it. Moreover, the solution is so effective, it made a huge difference. For now, we are still waiting to review the newest lineup of Alienware gaming laptops and we would like to see if it truly runs that much cooler for us or not. Stay tuned for our review right here on Pokde.net.
Pokdepinion: I always felt that the thermals is what is holding back the beast. Can’t wait to try it out myself and see how much better it is over the previous generation.
