Apple Upgrades MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with New M2 Chip
Apple MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Gets A New M2 Chip Upgrade
Apple introduced its revamped MacBook Air, powered by the recently unveiled M2 chip, during WWDC22. It features an entirely new design, Magsafe charging, and exceptional battery life. Meanwhile, the 13-inch MacBook Pro also received the M2 chip upgrade.
With a thickness of 11mm and a weight of 1.22kg, the new MacBook Air has a flatter form and appears significantly sleeker. The laptop has no fans and has a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness and 1 billion colours. In addition to that, the web camera has been upgraded to 1080p.
The MacBook Air now includes a broader function key row on the Magic Keyboard and has MagSafe charging compatibility. Furthermore, there are two USB-C connections and a 3.5mm combination audio jack that comes with the laptop.
The battery capacity is sufficient for 18 hours of video playback and the new MacBook Air also includes a newly built quad-speaker system integrated into the frame, which should be a significant improvement over the previous model.
The MacBook Air with the M2 chip will be available in four colours which are space grey, silver, midnight blue, and starry gold, and include a matching MagSafe charging cable. It has also been modified to support Fast Charging with the 67W USB-C adapter.
The upgraded Macbook Air will be launched in July for $1,199 and can be configured with up to 2TB of SSD storage and up to 24GB of memory. Meanwhile, the M1 MacBook Air will remain available for $999.
Aside from the new M2 chip, the MacBook Pro 13-inch stays identical, with its thick bezel display and Apple’s keyboard with Touch Bar. The price of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 starts at $1,299.
Pokdepinion: 18 hours of battery life is really impressive. Hopefully, it would be able to test the laptop’s performance too with the newly improved chip!
