ASUS has announced its Vivobook S 14 laptop is receiving a small update courtesy of Intel’s newest laptop processors, along with faster RAM and Wi-Fi 7 support. This refreshed model will be launched from mid-January 2025, the laptop maker announced.
Vivobook S 14 Refresh

Before discussing on the updated internals, it’s worth mentioning that ASUS has updated the name of the laptop itself, removing the ‘OLED’ in the name (though the laptop still uses OLED panels). So, it is now simply referred as Vivobook S 14, with the updated SKU code (S5406SA).
The new update brings Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 processors onboard, specifically the Core Ultra 200V series (codenamed Lunar Lake) with two configurations – Core Ultra 5 226V (16GB RAM) and Core Ultra 7 258V (32GB RAM). With the updated chip comes support for faster LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, new Xe2-based onboard Arc graphics, and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. The new configuration also introduces 1TB storage option for the first time, exclusive to the Core Ultra 7 258V variant.

Beyond that, all specs of the laptop remain identical to the Meteor Lake-based model: this means you get the same 14-inch FHD+ OLED HDR panel, FHD IR webcam with Windows Hello support, Thunderbolt 4 ports, single-zone RGB keyboard, 75Wh battery, and the same exact design plus dimensions. (Speaking of which, here’s our review for the original model.)
In terms of pricing, the new Core Ultra 5 variant (with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD) got a small price drop from its predecessor, costing RM4,799; as for the more powerful Core Ultra 7 variant with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD – that’ll set you back for RM5,299. Both will be available in a single color, Mist Blue, for the time being.
Pokdepinion: The CU7 variant sounds like a better deal with vastly more RAM and storage available for a reasonable bump in price.
