Whether you like you use Google’s services or not, it’s not your choice to make when you’re buying the next HP-branded laptop: the search engine giant has recently announced that all HP laptops will soon be pre-installed with a new app called Google Essentials.
Google Essentials For HP Laptops

Technically speaking, Google Essentials isn’t a completely new app: it simply acts as a one-stop-shop for users to “discover and install many of our best Google services,” according to the company. It will take a spot in the Start Menu on all HP lineups, including Spectre, Envy, Pavilion, OMEN, Victus, and soon for the upcoming Omnibook series (which will supersede Spectre, Envy, and Pavilion models into one unified brand).
The kind of apps you get from each HP laptop seemed to differ as well, as Google noted that OMEN owners get access to Google Play Games right away (also accessible via OMEN Gaming Hub), and features like in-game progress and rewards stay synced across Android devices and PC. Other apps that Google mentioned includes Google Photos and Google Messages, plus Docs, Drive, and Calendar.
However, if you’re not into the Google life, you can still uninstall it from your PC, or just remove the apps that you don’t need at any time. The company noted that the Essentials app will be expanded to more laptops and desktops “in the coming months,” but no brands have been mentioned thus far.
Pokdepinion: That’s one more app taking the limited space on the already crowded Windows 11 Start Menu, I suppose.
