iOS 18, currently in beta testing and expected to launch in September, will receive its first major update with iOS 18.1. This update is anticipated to roll out in October, bringing the Apple Intelligence suite to users.

The initial betas of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 showcase Apple’s new features. To activate Apple Intelligence, users need to navigate to Settings and join a waitlist. In the current developer-only beta, the wait time is just a few hours. However, for the general public, accessing these features in October may take longer.

Apple Intelligence offers several new tools, including:

  • Writing Tools: Features such as rewrite, spell check, grammar check, and text summarization available in Messages, Notes, Mail, Pages, and other apps.
  • Enhanced Siri: A new look with a glow around the edges of the screen and the ability to type commands.
  • Content Summaries: For transcripts and other content.
  • New Mail Categories and Smart Replies: Available in Mail and Messages.
  • Call Recording and Transcription: Users can record phone calls, receive an audible notification, and save the audio to the Notes app. Post-call features include re-listening to the call, viewing a full transcript, and accessing a summary.

A public beta of iOS 18.1 is expected to be available in the coming weeks, giving users a preview of these innovative features ahead of the official October release.

Pokdepinion: I feel like this won’t really be a problem given that most people end up pre-ordering it in September and will likely receive it sometime in October anyway.
