ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip and Zenfone 8 officially launched — arriving in Malaysia REALLY SOON
The ASUS Zenfone 8 series has finally launched, with the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip both featuring top-notch specifications. The main difference between the two members of the Zenfone 8 family are their screen sizes, with the ASUS Zenfone 8 touting a compact 5.9″ display, while the Zenfone 8 Flip offers a much larger 6.67″ screen.
Both the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip and Zenfone 8 tout Samsung AMOLED displays tuned by Pixelworks, promising a great visual experience, with Delta E <1 color accuracy and also HDR10+ certification. However that’s about where the similarities end for the display. The Zenfone 8 touts a higher refresh rate of 120Hz, while the Zenfone 8 Flip only boasts a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen on the smaller device is also protected by the more durable Gorilla Glass Victus, versus the Zenfone 8 Flip’s Gorilla Glass 6.
As you would expect, the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip’s Flip Camera allowed ASUS to remove the front-facing selfie camera for a more splendid viewing experience. Meanwhile the Zenfone 8 touts a tiny punch hole to house its 12MP selfie camera. Stereo speakers round off the audiovisual aspect of the ASUS Zenfone 8 series.
Since we are on the topic of cameras, this is where the Zenfone 8 actually has yet another small advantage versus the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip: OIS. The 64MP main camera of the Zenfone 8 touts OIS for better video capabilities, while the Zenfone 8 Flip has to rely on EIS.
On the other hand, the Zenfone 8 Flip touts an 8MP 3X telephoto camera that the Zenfone 8 lacks, but it too is not supported by OIS. I am not exactly sure how ASUS expects people to take photos with 3X zoom without OIS. Meanwhile the ultra-wide camera is the same on both Zenfone 8 devices, with both touting a 12MP IMX363 behind ultra-wide optics that can capture macro photos as well.
You can check out the following specifications table to identify the other differences between the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip:

Pokdepinion: The ASUS Zenfone 8 actually looks like the more premium device… I guess ASUS really wanted to make a strong entry in the compact device market.
