HONOR Unveils Magic Vs Foldable Smartphone For Overseas Markets

HONOR is now the latest smartphone manufacturer to dip their toes into foldable smartphones – bringing their new Magic Vs to international markets for the first time.

HONOR Magic Vs

Weighing at 261g, HONOR claims this is the lightest foldable smartphone to date, with thickness measuring at 12.9mm. The company attributes the weight savings to a simplified gear-less hinge that reduced hinge complexity while maintaining same level of durability. The hinge is rated for over 400,000 folds – equivalent to more than 100 folds per day for 10 years.

The foldable form factor takes the traditional vertical-folding design with front FHD+ display spanning 6.45 inches at 21:9 aspect ratio. Inside, the screen is measured 7.9 inches, supports 100% DCI-P3, 10-bit color and up to 90Hz refresh rate (front display supports 120Hz). The new blue-light filter technology, dubbed Circadian Night Display, uses 1920Hz PWM dimming on both displays to minimize flickering in low-brightness environments.

The rear cameras houses three lenses: 54MP Sony IMX800 main shooter, 50MP ultrawide + macro camera and a 8MP telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom. Front facing camera is handled by a single 16MP camera.

On the subject of performance – Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 powers the smartphone; with configurations available up to 12GB+512GB. Battery is 5000mAh combined; supports 66W HONOR SuperCharge with 46 minutes of charge time.

HONOR hasn’t revealed any details on a possible release nationwide – for that, stay tuned to HONOR’s website or their Facebook page.

Pokdepinion: Still some way to go from pushing the foldable weight down to maybe sub-220g or so. I personally thinks traditional smartphones at ~200g is already a bit too heavy.
