HONOR Launches HONOR View40 In China And Reveals New Brand Strategy
After weeks of leaks and speculation, HONOR has officially lifted the lid off the new HONOR View40 (or HONOR V40 in China) during their “Sense the Future” online event last night. The new HONOR View40 is the first HONOR device since their sale by HUAWEI and touts a waterfall curved 6.72-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate up to 300Hz touch response. Furthermore, the display is a 10-bit (8+2-bit) OLED screen, which gives it the ability to display over 1 billion colours. This allows it to cover the entire DCI-P3 colour space, giving the HONOR View40 professional-level colour accuracy.

Under the hood, the HONOR View40 comes equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC and sports features such as GPU Turbo X and Hunter Boost optimisations for better gaming performance.
Powering the HONOR View40 is 4000mAh battery with support for 66W SuperCharge fast charging technology. It takes just 15 minutes to charge up to 60 percent capacity, and just 35 minutes to fully charge the HONOR View40. The HONOR View40 also comes with 50W wireless charging, confirming the previously leaked information about the device. This allows users to wirelessly charge their device up to 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes.
In the camera department, the View40 sports a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP RYYB sensor for the main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The selfie camera is a single 16MP shooter, debunking previous rumours saying that the device will feature dual selfie cameras. Other features found on the HONOR View40 is 5G connectivity, 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB internal storage.
The HONOR View40 will retail for RMB3,599 (RM2247.56) for the 128GB version while the 256GB version will retail for RMB3,999 (RM2497.35). There is no word yet if the international version of the device will ship with Google Mobile Services so we will just have to wait and see.

HONOR also took the advantage to present their future plans during the launch event. The company revealed that they will continue with their “1+8+N” product strategy and focusing on three key pillars: All Scenarios, All Channels and All People. HONOR stated that they will remain committed to innovating their products through their five R&D centres and over 100
innovation labs worldwide.
Based on global consumer needs, HONOR has the flexibility and independence to choose the best solutions for its global supply chain. HONOR also announced partnerships with leading suppliers such as AMD, Intel, MediaTek, Micron Technology, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Samsung, SK hynix, and Sony.
HONOR MagicBook Series Gets a refresh
Apart from launching the HONOR View40, HONOR also announced a refresh of their HONOR MagicBook Series. The new HONOR MagicBook 14 and HONOR MagicBook 15 now comes equipped with latest 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor 8 and NVIDIA GeForce MX450 discrete graphics. Moreover, the new HONOR MagicBook 14 and HONOR MagicBook 15 both feature Wi-Fi 6 and a 2X2 MIMO dual-antenna design for faster speeds compared to the previous generation.
Pokdepinion: I really hope that the HONOR View40 comes with GMS when it releases internationally. Would be a shame if it didn’t.
