HONOR has officially debuted the HONOR X9c 5G in Malaysia, featuring Ultra-Tough Triple Defense with enhanced drop, water, and scratch resistance as its main selling point. The smartphone maker has also announced the budget-friendly HONOR X7c 4G to address the lower end of the smartphone market.

HONOR X9c 5G

The HONOR X9c 5G features Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Technology 2.0 that can withstand drops up to 2 meters, along with triple-layer waterproof structure that gives it an IP65M rating – the ‘M’ here denotes its ability to resist water ingress in motion, combined together with the value ‘5’ means it can withstand high-pressure water jets even when the smartphone is moving at varying angles. Alternatively, HONOR says it can withstand liquid submersion up to 25cm for up to 5 minutes.

Other specs include 6,600mAh silicon carbon battery that further extends its battery life over its predecessor, supported by 66W HONOR SuperCharge and AI Safe Charging; the phone’s 6.78-inch OLED display features 120Hz refresh rate and 4,000 nits of peak brightness along with several eye-protection features like 3840Hz PWM dimming.

You also get speakers three times as loud, as well as an 108MP OIS camera that features 1/1.67″ sensor for better low-light performance. One thing to note – the X9c 5G retains the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC found in its predecessor, so expect similar performance between the two.

HONOR X7c 4G

Meanwhile, the HONOR X7c 4G comes with the same Ultra-Tough Triple Defense feature set, though ingress protection is rated slightly lower at IP64, still good enough for splash and dust resistance. It features a 6,000mAh battery with 35W SuperCharge, a 108MP main camera, along with the 6.77-inch HD+ display certified for low blue light performance. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 685 processor along with 8+8GB of RAM, though you won’t get 5G support out of this chip.

Pricing

The HONOR X9c 5G is available for pre-order until 14 November 2024 – it comes in 256GB and 512GB versions, priced at RM1,499 and RM1,699, respectively, along with a gift package worth RM1,486 that includes 365-day display and back cover crack replacement, 180-day one-to-one replacement, and 36-month battery replacement if under significant degradation.

The HONOR X7c 4G, meanwhile, retails at RM699, which includes 8+8GB RAM (with Turbo RAM) and 256GB storage, with a 365-day Crack Replacement gift for early buyers until 15 December 2024.

Pokdepinion: That’s a huge battery – even flagships are barely getting past 5000mAh these days.
