REDMAGIC 8S Pro Announced For Malaysia With Overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chip
Nubia’s gaming sub-brand, REDMAGIC, has officially launched its latest gaming smartphone – the REDMAGIC 8S Pro – to the Malaysian markets. It comes with the “leading version” of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, making it the second smartphone maker to feature this overclocked version of the chip after Samsung (which is dubbed “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy”), with the same 3.36GHz CPU frequency and 719MHz GPU clockspeeed, bringing 5% more performance on both fronts compared to the standard chip.
Other specs include up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 512GB onboard UFS 4.0 storage, 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with 1300 nits of brightness on top of under-display camera, massive 6,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging, 520Hz shoulder trigger sampling rate and 960Hz display sampling rate. The camera packs a 16MP sensor at the front, with 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN5 sensor taking the main rear camera duty. (There’s also 3.5mm headphone jack, for those who’re paying attention.)
On the cooling side of things, the REDMAGIC 8S Pro comes with the new ICE 12.0 cooling system that increases vapor chamber area to 2068mm³ with strategically placed heat spreaders to reduce temperature on batteries to reduce heat during charging. The 11-layer heat dissipation system is also paired with a tiny 20,000RPM active cooling fan which the company claims only produces 4dB of noise.
The REDMAGIC 8S Pro comes in three flavors – Midnight, Platinum and Aurora, the former featuring 12+256GB whereas the latter two gets a larger 16+512GB storage option. The Aurora edition also comes with transparent chassis with visible internal components. The Midnight version will cost RM3,699 whereas both Platinum and Aurora editions is set to price at RM4,499 – all models will be available starting 14 Aug 2023, in REDMAGIC Shopee store and REDMAGIC website.
