ROG Phone 7 Ultimate Unboxing and First Impressions
ROG Phone 7 Ultimate Unboxing
In typical ROG fashion, ASUS doesn’t do simple packaging design as the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate comes in this triangular-ish box. It’s an eco-conscious packaging as it’s said to be made of biomass and is 100% recyclable so kudos to ASUS for taking the green step.
Inside the box, we found the following items:
- Quick start guide
- Warranty card
- Charging brick
- USB-C to USB-C cable
- Carrying pouch
- AeroActive Cooler 7
- SIM ejector pin
- Protective case
- The ROG Phone 7 Ultimate itself
We also did receive these two accessories on the side, though we aren’t sure if it will be included with the retail purchase or if it will be as a special freebie:
- DEVILCASE Guardian Standard Designed for ROG case
- Antibacterial Glass Screen Protector
ROG Phone 7 Ultimate First Impressions
At first glance, I did think the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate looked pretty much the same as last year’s model but after a proper look, they did make some minor changes here and there. The lower half has a white matte finish whereas the upper half is a clear white with a different texture. Unsurprisingly, the ROG Vision PMOLED display is back here in the rear, and you can customize the graphics to show what you want, have it display notifications, and more. One thing it took from the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is the AeroActive Portal, which will improve cooling significantly.
The rear has rounded edges and Gorilla Glass 3 for added protection. The main display itself, which is a 6.78-inch Full HD+ Samsung AMOLED display tuned by ROG, has Gorilla Glass Victus instead. Apart from that, it supports up to 165Hz refresh rate with 720Hz touch sampling rate, allowing you to enjoy really smooth visuals and superbly fast response time. It’s the best display I’ve seen in a gaming phone, and one of the best overall, but I will elaborate more in the review.
Apart from that, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. All of these are juiced up by a whopping 6,000mAh battery, which is two 3,000mAh batteries combined. This is designed to improve charging speeds and improve heat dissipation. There are a lot of things I want to say about the audio since the new AeroActive Cooler 7 brings a very interesting improvement in that area, but I can’t say much until the review is out. For now, check out the rest of the specifications right below here:
