As 2024 draws to a close, the tech world is already buzzing about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series slated for a 2025 release. While there are still a few major smartphone launches remaining this year, all eyes are turning toward Samsung’s next flagship lineup. Recent leaks and reports provide a clearer picture of what to expect from the Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Anticipated Release Date

Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S25 series suggest two possible reveal dates in January 2025:

  • January 5: One source hints that the Galaxy S25 series might be unveiled early in the month.
  • January 22: Another source points to a Samsung Unpacked event later in January for the official launch.

According to TechManiacs, the Galaxy S25 trio is shaping up to deliver what Samsung fans have come to expect—reliable incremental upgrades rather than groundbreaking changes. Here’s a breakdown of the rumored specifications:

Pricing and Storage

  • Consistent Pricing: Contrary to previous rumors, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to maintain the same pricing as the S24 series. Samsung will also continue its popular “free storage upgrade” promotion during the pre-order period.
  • Storage Options: There’s speculation about whether the base model will finally offer a 256GB base storage option, but no confirmation has been made yet.

Performance Enhancements

  • RAM Upgrade: All Galaxy S25 models will feature increased RAM, with 12GB available instead of the previous 8GB, ensuring smoother multitasking and better performance.
  • Chipset: The series will exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset across all markets, following delays in Exynos 2500 production.

Camera Improvements

  • ISP Upgrade: The new Image Signal Processor (ISP) in the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will provide the only significant camera upgrade for the base and Plus models.
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra: This model will boast an upgraded 50MP ultra-wide camera, a substantial improvement from the previous 12MP. Additionally, the Ultra model will feature new styling on the camera lenses, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.

Display and Battery

  • Display Consistency: The Galaxy S25 series will retain the same display sizes and resolutions as the S24 series. However, the Ultra model will feature thinner bezels for a more immersive viewing experience.
  • Battery and Charging: Battery capacities will remain unchanged. Charging speeds will also stay consistent, with the Plus and Ultra models supporting 45W fast charging, while the standard Galaxy S25 will offer 25W charging. The enhanced efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset may contribute to longer battery life.

Samsung is reportedly placing significant emphasis on integrating new AI features into the Galaxy S25 series. These advancements are expected to enhance user experience, although they may also contribute to delays in the development of Samsung’s One UI 7.

While the leaked information suggests that the Galaxy S25 series will offer incremental upgrades, there is still potential for unexpected enhancements that haven’t been revealed yet. Samsung enthusiasts can anticipate a refined and powerful lineup that builds on the success of the S24 series, with a particular focus on AI integration and camera performance.

Pokdepinion: I’m quite curious about the pricing in Malaysia as I suspect there will still be a price increase over here, albeit a slight one, but I hope 256GB is the lowest storage option as 128GB doesn’t feel like much these days.
