Samsung is reportedly working on a new midrange chipset, the Exynos 1580, which is expected to deliver performance comparable to flagship SoCs from 2021, such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100.

According to a Geekbench listing, the Exynos 1580 will feature a CPU configuration with one core at 2.91 GHz, three cores at 2.6 GHz, and four cores at 1.95 GHz – mirroring the architecture of the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888.
The benchmark results are impressive, with the Exynos 1580 achieving a single-core score of over 1,000 and a multi-core score of 3,678 on Geekbench 5. These scores align closely with those of 2021 flagship chipsets, all built on the 5 nm FinFET process technology.
The Exynos 1580 is anticipated to debut with the Galaxy A56, following the pattern set by the Exynos 1480, which launched with the Galaxy A55 in March 2024. This new chipset will be the first mid-range Exynos platform to employ a three-cluster CPU solution, aiming to enhance both performance and power efficiency.
Pokdepinion: This should be the norm for midrange chips / devices. They should at least matchup with flagships from a year or two prior. Otherwise, it’s just not really worth it unless the price is noticeably low.
