Sony Reveals XPERIA 5 IV, Availability in Q4 2022

Sony introduces XPERIA 5 IV, which shares many of its features with the flagship XPERIA 1 IV, in a compact design.

New to XPERIA 5 lineup is Real-time Eye AF and Real-time tracking on all lenses – courtesy of Sony’s Alpha division – previously exclusive to its flagship counterpart. The 12MP front-facing camera has been upgraded as well, with improved sensor that supports 4K HDR recording.

Sony’s audio features are here as well, such as 360 Reality Audio, and features a 3.5mm headphone jack for those who prefer to listen using wired headphones. DSEE Ultimate and LDAC supports ensures high resolution sound quality. Also supported is Bluetooth LE Audio, the latest standard for wireless audio devices.

Sony also offers their new Music Pro app that processes your recording on the cloud to remove unwanted noises with their unique sound separation technology, and provides users the options to mix audio channels as they prefer.

The display features a 6.1-inch, 21:9 FHD+ HDR OLED panel which is 50% brighter than the outgoing model, and Real Time HDR Drive helps with reproducing the gradation of overexposed and underexposed areas and smooths them out, providing a better viewing experience in outdoor environments.

Also in the panel is 120Hz support, and 240Hz touch sampling rate, giving gamers a competitive edge with lower touch latency. Game Enhancer gives gamers the tools to enhance their gaming experience and stream the content. Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the 5 IV provides flagship experience in a compact package.

Battery has been upgraded too, now with 5,000mAh battery and adaptive charging allows to prolong its lifespan up to 3 years. With compatible chargers (XQZ-UC1), fast charging up to 50% takes 30 minutes. It also supports wireless charging and battery share features, so users can keep their devices charged and ready to go.

The packaging features no plastic packaging, entirely eliminated or replaced with paper materials.

Sony XPERIA 5 IV will be available in Black from Q4 2022 onwards in Malaysia.
