Last month, WhatsApp announced a new feature called Events for Communities, and now it seems the feature is expanding beyond community groups. According to WABetaInfo, the Events feature is now available for some users on WhatsApp for Android’s beta version 2.24.14.9, even for groups not associated with any community.

WhatsApp: Expanding Events Beyond Communities

WhatsApp's New Events Feature Now Available for Group Chats in Beta

Initially exclusive to Communities, the Events feature is now accessible in regular group chats. Users can find the new “Event” icon by clicking on the paperclip icon within the group chat. This addition allows group members to create, view, and accept event invites directly within the chat. The creator of the event can also modify event details as needed. Importantly, all group events are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring privacy and security for all participants.

While WhatsApp has not announced a global rollout timeline for the Events feature in all group chats, users eager to try it can join the WhatsApp beta program. This provides early access to new features, including Events, before they are released to the public.

The Events feature streamlines the process of organizing and managing group activities, making it easier for members to stay informed and coordinated. Whether planning a meeting, social gathering, or any group activity, this feature enhances the functionality of WhatsApp groups.
