Xiaomi 13 And 13 Pro Officially Revealed
After being subjected to numerous leaks and rumours online, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro smartphones have finally been revealed.
Xiaomi 13
The base model Xiaomi 13 shares many features with the Pro model but in a smaller package. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, it features a brighter and slightly larger 120Hz 6.36-inch 2400 x 1080 OLED display and IP68 protection sans LTPO, so you don’t get dynamic refresh rate here.
The Leica branding is also present on the lenses of the Xiaomi 13, which includes a 50MP wide angle camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera on the other hand is a 32MP wide angle shooter. All of this will be juiced up by a healthy 4,500mAh battery which supports 67W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse charging.
The Xiaomi 13 will be launching on 14th December 2022 but only for China, with retail prices starting from CNY¥3999 (RM2,535.65). While there is no word on its pricing and availability in Malaysia, it has been approved by SIRIM, which suggests an announcement on a local launch is coming soon.
Xiaomi 13 Pro
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is the headlining act, and it features a 6.73-inch 3200 x 1400 LTPO OLED display with adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and 1,900 nits peak brightness. The screen is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and the smartphone is rated with IP68 dust and water protection.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 internal storage. It also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. The camera module of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is made by Leica and has a triple-camera setup with a 50MP 1-inch Sony IMX989 camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The front camera is a 32MP selfie camera.
The battery is a larger 4,820mAh capacity and supports fast charging, including 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

Pokdepinion: I would like to see what Xiaomi is capable of with that 1-inch sensor on the Pro. It looks promising and we might just see smartphone photography evolve even further with this as a start. Sure, Sony did it first but it wasn’t on a mainstream device.
