Acer is expanding its tablet segment with the new Iconia X12 tablet – it features a 12.6-inch 2.5K AMOLED display with 400 nits of brightness, and comes equipped with quad stereo speakers as well.
Acer Iconia X12
It’s unlikely to be competing against the likes of iPad Pro, but it should be able to stand on its own based on its specs. For starters, the SoC powering it is the MediaTek Helio G99, a mid-range octa-core chip that was released in 2022 (no 5G support, however). Its specs aren’t exactly class-leading, given that it also supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) only.
On the positive side, you do get 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB / 256GB of UFS storage (with microSD expansion available up to 1TB), 30W fast charging, and a 10,000mAh battery rated for 16 hours of runtime. You get a 13MP camera on the rear, and an 8MP sensor facing front; the entire unit weighs 600g and is only 6.7mm thick.
Naturally, the Iconia X12 is available with optional accessories, including a stylus pen and a detachable Bluetooth keyboard with a trackpad. A portfolio case with a multi-angle stand is also available, and it’s worth noting that you only get 20W fast charger by default, based on the footnote on the product page.
Acer says the Iconia X12 will be available beginning January 2025, and with the pricing listed at $349 (~RM1,514 in today’s exchange rates).
Pokdepinion: That’s a pretty dated SoC by the point it launches next year.
