We’re set to see a big change with the entire Apple iPad lineup as the base model that’s coming this Fall 2022 is also reportedly making a move to USB-C, ditching the Lightning port behind. Previously, the use of USB-C was limited to the Pro, Air, and Mini models.

Apart from that, the new base model iPad is said to be powered by the Apple A14 Bionic, which is the same chip powering the iPad Air as well as the iPhone 12 series. Apart from that, we can expect a Retina display with the same resolution as the latest Air model, and 5G support for the ones with cellular network support.

There is a chance that the base model iPad will see a slight redesign, squaring off the edges, in order to match better with their other offerings, but nothing has been confirmed yet. There is also no word on whether it will come with Apple Pencil support. Given the changes, and potentially more to come, we do expect it to be pricier compared to its predecessors at launch.
