HUAWEI has announced the upcoming launch of its latest flagship tablet, the MatePad Pro 13.2″, in Malaysia on 18 February 2025 – the device will be introduced alongside a new range of products, including the tri-fold HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate Design, the company said in its press release.

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2″ Coming Soon

The MatePad features a 13.2-inch Flexible OLED PaperMatte X-True Display with ‘professional-grade color accuracy’, along with claimed 1000 nits of brightness, and a 94% screen-to-body ratio (though it’s also getting a notch, just like Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab models). The display is also certified by SGS and TÜV Rheinland for low visual fatigue and anti-glare properties. On the software side, it comes pre-installed with WPS Office Suite, an alternative to Google Docs and Microsoft Office apps that feature similar productivity capabilities.

HUAWEI says its tablet features an “advanced 3D heat dissipation system” that improves cooling efficiency, which amounts to 85% longer “turbo duration” (in other words, less throttling). The onboard chip’s TDP has also increased by 6.6%, which contribute to a claimed 30% performance increase over its predecessor. That said, exactly what chip that powers it is likely a question mark as the Chinese company has been secretive about its chipmaking capabilities due to sanctions imposed by the US.

Expect availability details to be announced by next Tuesday, which will be the tablet’s official global launch; Malaysia will likely be among the first countries to see retail release of the new tablet, along with the new products set to be announced in the same event.
