MOONTON Games announced a new “Title Defender” mechanism for the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2027 – under the new rules, this grants the highest-performing teams (not just the winner) from the previous MSC continued qualification opportunities for the following edition of the tournament.
MLBB MSC 2027 Title Defender System
The mechanism consists of two components: under the Title Defender Direct Slot, the reigning MSC champion receives an automatic Main Stage berth at the next MSC without needing to go through regional qualifiers, adding an additional slot for the champion’s region – if the reigning champion separately qualifies for the Main Stage through regional qualifiers, the direct slot is passed to the next-highest-seeded team from the same region.
Under the MSC Runner-Up Wild Card Slot, the runner-up of the most recent MSC receives a Wild Card entry for the following edition, allocated through the existing Wild Card structure (this entry does not occupy a Main Stage slot). Similarly, if the runner-up qualifies for the Main Stage through regional qualifiers, the Wild Card slot is passed to the next-seeded team from the same region.
The Title Defender system applies equally across all regions under the MSC’s global tournament framework and will take effect at MSC 2027. MOONTON said the rules and slot allocations for future editions will be reviewed and adjusted based on the tournament’s competitive landscape.
