Selangor Red Giants (SRG) have secured their sixth consecutive MPL Malaysia title, defeating Team Rey (TR) 4-3 in a seven-game Grand Finals thriller at Stadium Juara, Kuala Lumpur. The MPL Malaysia Season 18 Grand Finals was the first to go the full seven-game distance since Season 12, making SRG’s latest championship the most hard-fought of their historic run.

Team Rey, who suffered an early exit from the Season 17 Playoffs, mounted a remarkable comeback run to reach the Grand Finals and pushed SRG to the limit before falling short. Both teams have earned Malaysia’s Golden Tickets to the M8 World Championship Main Stage in Istanbul, Turkiye, where the M Series will make its first appearance on European soil.

SRG head coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado described the Grand Finals as a welcome test of character. He noted that the team finished third at the M7 World Championship and expressed a clear ambition to go further at M8, referencing the team’s MSC victory in 2024 as the standard they aim to match on the international stage.

The M8 World Championship will be the first M Series tournament to span two continents, beginning with the Wild Card stage in Bangkok, Thailand, before moving to Istanbul for the Main Stage. Sixteen teams will compete for the world title and a share of the US$1 million prize pool.

Meanwhile, other regions finalized their M8 qualifiers over the same weekend. In Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), Team Spirit swept Aurevia Team 4-0 to claim their eighth MLBB Continental Championships title, putting them on course for the Golden Road, an achievement that requires winning all major regional and international titles within a single competitive year. No team has accomplished this feat, and Team Spirit becomes the first team from outside Asia to attempt it.

In East Asia, The MongolZ defeated China’s DianFengYaoGuai 5-3 in the MLBB Championship Tour East Asia Grand Finals, overcoming a significant in-game advantage to secure their own Golden Ticket to Istanbul.
